Kerry Severin is a senior product design/management consultant with experience in user experience design, web application development, instructional design, and marketing—with over ten (15) years of experience working in various industries from project management and software agencies to higher education. During his career, he has worked on multiple web application projects funded by government agencies (state and federal) and international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). His projects include a gang management system for law enforcement, a resource management repository for K-12 schools, and a strategic planning system for educators leading the design of the user experience (UX) and the development of user interfaces (UI). During his time in higher education, he was responsible for managing the delivery of a mentoring portal and events portal to facilitate faculty development.
As a product designer/manager with full-stack development skills, Severin participates in the entire design and development process from user research through product launch. He collaborates with user experience designers to conduct user research, gather market information, conduct usability tests, prepare product roadmaps, and develop strategies that increase user satisfaction, adoption, and retention. Severin also leads the design of design systems, interactions, and user interfaces. During web development projects, he manages the product backlogs and frequently works on front-end development and database design.
Severin considers himself a technologist enthusiastic about building data-driven systems that improve lives. His love for web application design led him to pursue his undergraduate education in multimedia design and computer science, and his interest in efficient project execution led him to pursue his graduate education in project management and organizational dynamics. Day-to-day, you can find him listening to design, agile, development (JavaScript and PHP), and product management podcasts while on his morning and evening drives or reading user experience journals during his coffee breaks.
