Michelle Bernard is an educator, wellness consultant, author, and artist.
Michelle currently supports humans who think it's groovy to be strong, spirited, and wild with personal fitness training and J.A.M. Sessions (Journal Art & Movement) and WiLD journaling programs.
She left her hometown in Iowa at 22 to pursue stages, performing as a singer, songwriter, and poet in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Osaka, Japan; and wellness, teaching fitness and yoga programs to children, adults, and seniors in Los Angeles and New York City.
She was awarded a New York City Teaching Fellowship for her Master's degree in Education and established the Theatre Arts department at 754X, a high school in the Bronx for students with special needs.
She also developed two children's programs, Creative Movement for Enlightened Minds Yoga and Stand in Your Light Drama Class, for CUNY in the Heights in Manhattan.
Her devotional yoga workshops at Amsterdam Day Program in Manhattan featured chair dancing, Hatha yoga, and active imagination. She developed the program to help seniors engage in deeper breathing practices, joyful movement to music that enhanced memory, and social interaction.
Michelle Bernard wrote her first wellness book, LEAN HAPPY HEALTHY YOU—8 healthy habits for her happy life, based on her experience training clients for over 20 years in Los Angeles and New York City to lose weight and organize healthy lifestyles.
Her newest book, BEYOND WORDS--FINDING FULFILLMENT BETWEEN THE LINES, grew out of the healing and wisdom she's garnered through journaling every day. The book is also speckled with the poetry born from her journals.
Her upcoming book, due in 2025, will feature poetry, prose, and paintings that chronicle her life as a curious & observant human in relationships.
When Michelle isn’t sculpting bodies or painting curiosities, you can find her in a European-style cafe with her journal. Meet her there. Tell her your stories over a coffee—or seven.
Michelle plays the tennis channel all day, soaks in a salt bath each night, and adores stepping out into sunny Mondays (which she does weekly since moving to Florida in 2019).
Making muscles, meaning, and a strong cup of coffee are most fulfilling.
