Cost Distribution: Understanding how your projects really create the costs

Understanding how your costs are distributed is one of the major issues when moving into the cloud and container infrastructure, whether isolated and on top of a public or private cloud. Cost optimization is a full discipline that needs tools that allows to achieve cost transparency and grow into cost optimization.
This presentation helps you understand the process of identifying costs associated to your infrastructure, adding the metrics and information that you need to get useful management data, and then use both data and metrics to distribute costs into meaningful units like projects and applications

Visualization, forecasting and behavioural changes for Kubernetes customers through cost modeling

For the last 20 years, telcos have evolved from a heavily measured, very complex tariff structure that involved different metrics, usage and billing time discounts, even with cross-product discounts and fidelity schemes, to a simplified structure where flat-rates are always included as a premium option. We are just walking a path that has already been trodden.

Serverless, containers, cloud computing, and new technologies that will appear have greatly helped to reduce the TCO and TTM of applications, and empowered decentralized development teams to maintain and create their own infrastructure without many of the constraints that the hardware implied in the past.

Can we link business and technology in a way that makes it transparent to all the stakeholders how value and costs are linked? Can we use technology to teach our users the best way to introduce costs as a lever of our applications?
