Attaining Consistency with hybrid and multi-cloud

With so many cloud choices and the desire to be able to deploy workloads anywhere, how do we achieve consistency for both Dev and Ops? This talk looks at a way of providing consistent and yet secure and powerful environments for both developers and operations while adopting open hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies.

DevSecOps the open source way

Security does not happen in one place in the infrastructure or application lifecycle. Instead, security must be continuous across both development and operations. DevSecOps means everyone is responsible for security and security is no longer an afterthought. In this session, we will discuss: how to understand the security culture in most enterprises, dive into security related topics and blockers that often come up when adapting organizational security policies in both containerized and traditional environments, and discuss the security best practices as it relates to DevSecOps. We will dive into specifically how the open source projects and products can help customers successfully achieve DevSecOps through automation, standardization, everything as code, centralized management and visibility, automated security compliance, built-in security in the application pipeline, and proactive security and automated risk management.

Dockerless container builds with Buildah

Would you like to have an alternative to Docker for building container images? In the last couple of years there have been major innovations in Linux container technologies. The Open Container Initiative (OCI) has been a catalyst for many of these innovations. The Buildah project builds on the underlying OCI standard for container images. Building on the open source containers/image and containers/storage projects, Buildah provides a simple CLI for building OCI compliant images and it does not require Docker including the Docker daemon. In this session you will learn how Buildah can help simplify your container build pipeline. Buildah can build from existing container images, from existing Dockerfiles, or simply from scratch. This session includes a demonstration of how you can successfully use Buildah.

Why Users Are Moving on from Docker and Leaving Its Security Risks Behind

In this session you will learn what the motivations were for a Dockerless approach and how Podman and Buildah enhance Red Hat OpenShift. With so many distributions of Kubernetes it’s important to know when and why you should decide to use Red Hat OpenShift in a world where having choices, while maintaining confidence, is becoming more critical than ever.
