I first heard Abam speak about diversity and inclusion at the BoardRoom Africa's Open Doors Board Training; which was organized with the Institute of Directors. Her session was delivered during the leadership module, when we explored the need for having different voices and perspectives represented on a board to limit the possibility of groupthink and enhance the ability to assess problems from various angles. The TED-style talk she delivered was contextual and provided valuable insight into how diversity and inclusion strengthen decision-making and improve organizational outcomes. Abam is a fierce advocate for diversity and inclusion. An eloquent orator, she carries the listener on an intriguing journey to discover one's own biases and how they can be overcome simply by shifting one's perspective. A leader in her own right, she amplifies the voices of others and advocates for those who do not feel empowered to speak their truth. Abam is one to watch and follow. Brava!
