Abuse and Trauma Do Not Discriminate, But It Is Possible to Heal and Regain Your Power
Abuse and trauma do not discriminate, but it is possible to heal and regain your power. Abuse is unfortunately all too common, even among privileged, wealthy, and famous people. In this talk, Casey Hammer, granddaughter of oil magnate Dr. Armand Hammer, shares her story and how she has overcome a vicious cycle of multi-generational abuse. Featured in the docuseries "House of Hammer" on HBO MAX and Discovery+, Casey shares her story by shining a light on abuse and the power and healing of being heard. She also wrote her in-depth autobiography “Surviving My Birthright: The Authorized Version”. She remained silent for years about the abuse she endured and the devastating consequences of suffering unimaginable trauma at the hands of one's own family. She is an advocate for victims and survivors and brings awareness by starting a conversation around consent, accountability, and victim advocacy to help begin the healing process. Casey's goal is to give a voice to the voiceless.
