Discover the captivating world of evolution through the eyes of an evolutionary biologist. In this presentation, I'll transform the dry scientific theory of evolution into a vibrant narrative of adaptation, survival, and interconnectedness. Join me on a journey as I unveil three captivating stories of evolution that challenge our understanding of the world around us. From salamanders' incredible webbed feet to turtle expeditions across early Antarctica to venom complexity in snakes of the American southwest, to absurdly complicated sex chromosomes in Japanese frogs. I'll share insights from my own research to better inform these stories. Brace yourself for a presentation that unveils the richness of evolution's story and hopes to convey how many more of these stories we may stand to lose.
