Dr. Courtney Hinton, a Board-Certified Family Physician, is the Founder and CEO of TheSnatchBack, LLC. The mission of this organization is to provide the pathway to healing for historically marginalized birthing people recovering from premature birth and the NICU. As a black NICU mom, Dr. Hinton is able to use her medical expertise and lived experiences to provide resources, guidance, and support to people finding their way both during and after navigating the NICU.
Dr. Hinton received her Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University in Washington, DC and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. While completing her medical degree, Dr. Hinton also pursued and successfully completed a Master of Business Administration degree at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. To round out her education, she completed her residency training in family medicine at Crozer-Keystone Family Medicine Residency Program in Delaware County, PA in 2017 before moving to North Carolina. While in residency training, Dr. Hinton was selected to be in the inaugural class of the “Family Medicine Leads Emerging Leadership Institute”, a program to breed future leaders organized by the American Academy of Family Medicine (AAFP) Foundation. In her final year of residency, she served as Co-Chief Resident of her program. Since completing residency, Dr. Hinton has sought additional education in inclusive excellence and the strategic application of inclusivity in the workplace. She values continual learning as part of her work in educating and serving others.
Dr. Hinton began her medical career in the Raleigh-Durham (RDU) area providing Primary Care services, eventually transitioning to College Health and Leadership. Adding an extra dimension to her training, Dr. Hinton is a certified QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) instructor, allowing her to teach the QPR curriculum for suicide prevention as part of her overall dedication to the community.
Dr. Hinton’s interests lie in postpartum education, adolescent and young adult health and wellness, health equity, performing arts medicine, sports medicine, preventive care, and providing inclusive medical services to her patients, no matter the background or identity. In her spare time, Dr. Hinton is an active member of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Her other primary passion is the Performing Arts; thus, she enjoys seeking out opportunities to dance, sing, act, or attend a local performance. She enjoys traveling, film, live sporting events and spending time with her spouse, her twin sons, extended family, and friends.
