Dr. Cynthia Jean Hickman is a proud retiree of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital (SLEH) in Houston, Texas. She retired in 2013. Dr. Hickman has completed two degrees, a Master of Nursing specializing in education (2009) and her Ph.D. in Health Services with a leadership specialization (2016) from Walden University. In 2020, Dr. Hickman is Vice President of the Multicultural & International Student Organization at Walden University and past Vice President of Prairie View A & M University College of Nursing Alumni Chapter.
Dr. Cynthia J. Hickman is Your Proactive Caregiver Advocate and author of From the Lens of Daughter, Nurse, and Caregiver: A Journey of Duty and Honor, sharing her 20-years journey of caring for her mother. Her 2nd book release: The Black Book of Important Information for Caregivers. It details the necessity of mindfulness of the business side of being a caregiver.
Dr. Hickman spoke on the national stage with Shawn Fair at the Leadership Experience Speaker's Tour, in 2021, in Troy, Michigan, sharing her powerful story of caregiving and resilience. On January 29, 2022, Dr. Hickman was the 66th Winter commencement speaker for Walden University. She has become a storyteller, passionate about sharing caregiving tips and strategies to help others navigate life challenges while celebrating reality successes.
