In addition to his outstanding educational background, Dr. James McInnis has obtained numerous licenses and certifications, including the MCC (Licensure of the Medical Council of Canada), Commissioned Rank as Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy with service number D66 403 377, certification from the Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP), and a promotion to Lieutenant (N) in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Over his career, he has been acknowledged with multiple awards and recognitions. These include the Prince Edward Island Top Medical Student Scholarship, the Burke Certificate for Promise in Family Medicine, a research assistant role on the effects of Prolia in Osteoporosis, a Special Citation for Meritorious Service in the Canadian Armed Forces, a CME Research Presentation titled “Physicians in the Military,” and an Honorable Discharge from active service in the Canadian Armed Forces.
He has held several academic roles, serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Laboratory Studies at Dalhousie University, a Senior Post Graduate Clinical Instructor at McMaster University, and a Senior Professor and Evaluator at the Canadian Forces School of Physician Assistants in C.F.B. Borden, Ontario.
He served as a Lieutenant (N) in the Canadian Armed Forces for nine years and remains an active Class B reservist for the Royal Canadian Navy. During his service, he was a medical officer for soldiers both at home and during deployments, participated as a deployed member of the Disaster Assistance Response Team (D.A.R.T.) as part of Operation PLATEAU, served as a consultant in bio-terrorism medicine, acted as a special consultant and liaison between the Canadian Forces and the Canadian Medical Association, and worked as a clinical instructor and liaison officer for the Canadian Armed Forces Physician Assistant Program.
