Inverse Diversification
According to USA Today, roughly 20% of new businesses survive their first year as of 2017. Out of those businesses, roughly 50% survive three or four years after that, and in ten years after opening, 99% would fail. So, if 100 new businesses started this year, by this time next year, only 20 of them would be left. Come back four years later, and only 10 would still be in operation. Five years after that, and only one would still be around. The numbers don’t lie; small businesses are failing constantly, and for such broad reasons that it’s hard to come up with a solution. Teams of researchers and economists have been trying to find the main source of the issue for decades, with a couple different opinions being reached. One side of the argument suggests that by having a network of smaller systems working in different fields, the chances of financial loss due to economic collapse is very small, allowing businesses a much higher chance to succeed...
