Eric started in banking in 1992, as an MIS analyst at Chase, and then went on to become portfolio manager from 1994. In 1998 he joined EIM, a specialised alternative multi-manager firm, as hedge fund analyst and portfolio manager, and took over the portfolio management team in 2000. In 2004 eric became CIO for Europe & Asia, Since 1998 EIM as grown from about $1bio to reach $14bio in 2008, and 7.5bio in 2010 and is now called the LumX Group.
Eric is, therefore, an actor and witness of a long period of institutionalisation of the firm and the hedge fund industry, both in processes and client base. Headcount grew 7-fold in the process, which further expanded his management knowledge.
The firm now specialises in tailor made portfolios of external managers and Alternative Risk Premia, for institutions. Our strength is alternative investments, but the current trend in asset management blurring the lines between alternative and long-only has been taken in strides by the firm. Indeed, He has taken over the long-only team early in 2009 to enhance processes and asset management between the teams.
Early 2009, EIM kicked off the setup of a managed account platform that now has a dozen managers and close to 1 bio in assets. Eric was part of a closed team that allowed the platform to take off. More recently, he was instrumental in building a unique dynamic tail protection fund of funds balancing deflation and inflation risks. Lately, Eric has been involved in the integration of Alternative Risk
Premia in portfolios. Fintech development hasn't been lost in the process, as Eric is active with Edgefolio, a forward-looking marketplace for managers and investors, and LumRisk a fast-growing transparency and distribution tool for institutional investors.
