How the S.A.R.A.* Process Taught Me to Be a More Effective Leader for My People
S.A.R.A. stands for Shock, Anger, Resistance, and Acceptance. S.A.R.A. is a model for understanding and managing change. t recognizes that when we experience change, we go through various emotions before fully accepting the new reality. The first stage is Shock, where the change takes us aback, and we may feel disoriented or numb. The second stage is Anger, where we may feel frustrated, resentful, or even hostile toward the change. The third stage is Resistance, where we may actively try to resist or avoid the change. And finally, the fourth stage is Acceptance, where we come to terms with the change and are ready to move forward. It allows us to adapt to new situations more effectively and with greater resilience. And as leaders, it is crucial that we help our teams navigate through change by acknowledging their emotions and providing support and guidance.
