Keynote Speaker
Erin Davis
Canadian Radio icon Erin Davis now lives on Vancouver Island with Rob, her husband of 31 years. Although she's no longer part of the top-rated morning show which she hosted for 25 years in Toronto, radio and TV veteran Erin has become a sought-after inspirational speaker.
Erin's departure from radio in late 2016 came 18 months after their only child, beloved 24-year-old daughter Lauren (also a broadcaster but in the nation's capital of Ottawa) died in her sleep of unknown causes, leaving behind a husband and seven-month-old baby.
In 2019 HarperCollins released in hardcover Erin's book Mourning Has Broken: Love, Loss and Reclaiming Joy about her family's experiences through a very public life of radio, an earth-shattering tragedy and the journey forward. The foreword to the book has been written by Jann Arden with cover comments from Olivia Newton-John. At the end of 2019 Erin's book was still on Canada's Bestseller list among international authors for Non-Fiction.
Erin's message to business and fundraising audiences is one of hope and dealing with change - no matter how big or small that change may be. Accompanied by several touching and thought-provoking slides, from Devastation to Determination (also called Reclaiming Joy) has been enthusiastically received by audiences in Canada's largest cities. Easily tailored to suit whichever group she addresses, Erin's speech is filled with humour, insight, pain and joy. Like her journey through grief, her presentation is a rollercoaster ride of emotions comprised of stories of survival and challenge, gratitude and fulfillment.
Erin also speaks on the topic of depression and the stigmas associated with it when you're in the public eye, plus a battle with addiction that brought her to treatment in 2019. Her story is honest, compelling, vulnerable and enlightening.
