Essence is an author, motivational speaker, and facilitator of self-help, and trauma-informed literature. Essence uses her experience as a community-based nonprofit worker, a former correctional officer, a mother, a social worker, a parent-pregnancy education facilitator, and a child and family services worker to help people undo the thinking of their past to open new doors to a brighter future for themselves and their families.
Essence has over 15 years of experience in the human
services field and experience as an individual and group counselor. Essence has a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Chestnut Hill College and is an MSW candidate at West Chester University.

Essence addresses the issues that people struggle with within themselves as parents and individuals such as depression, PTSD, Intergenerational patterns, abuse(sexual, mental, verbal), forgiveness, and resilience. Essence uses her experiences from life as a social worker, mother, and woman to give examples of resilience to show the ability to create the life that people deserve, as portrayed in her literary works "Layers of a Single Mother...my Past is not my Present," and "Believe in yourself," which can be purchased on Barnes and Nobles.com and Amazon.com.
Essence is the Co-chair of the "Dream IT Be It" program for young women in Philadelphia for Soroptimist International where she volunteers with young women to prepare them for college and career readiness.
Essence is a survivor of Domestic violence as a child and adult which was the inspiration for her book production because it is about her struggles as a single parent and the mistakes and triumphs she made with her children through the experience of Adverse Childhood Experiences from her intergenerational patterns.
In her workshop, she helps to reframe the thinking of parents and professionals alike to promote a healthy developmental environment for children of all ages and stages from infancy to adulthood by using the framework of theories, models, and first-hand life experiences. The workshop will consist of a lecture, visual aids, individual participation through genogram diagrams, polls, self-reflection exercises, and self-awareness exercises.
