In “The ROI of diversity marketing,” I encourage diversity and inclusion in our advertising so that everyone feels represented, valued, and a sense of belonging by examining companies who have effectively incorporated diversity and inclusion and the successful results from doing so, as well as companies who have done it poorly and how their business suffered as a result. In accomplishing this, more loyal customer base will be developed and we will see a new customer base purchasing from the companies that they see themselves represented in. In my talk, I use my experience with my daughter as we were faced with skin color and having to find ways to make sure she was represented in the world around her when she, at 3 years old, told me that she did not want to have brown skin anymore.
