Bio

Gavata Smith is an Author, Mime, Teacher, Nationally sought after Motivational Speaker, Project Management and Agile Professional, Catholic Charities Volunteer for Returning Citizens, the Daughter of a Recovering Addict, Victim of Sexual Abuse, , Granddaughter of nationally known deceased Bishop Walter "Sweet Daddy" McCollough, Encourager of the Broken and Depressed, Mother of 4, Grandmother of 12.

I am the author of “Get Yourself Together First” which is a true story about my mother and I, --- the healing and restoration between a mother, who was addicted to crack cocaine for 24 years, and a daughter who longed for her mother's love and attention, but became a victim of sexual abuse which essentially lead her life on a downward spiral. Against all obstacles, the daughter survived and still thrives.

Professionally, I am a System Trainer and Administrative Support Specialist for the FEMA where I utilize Agile Methodologies and my certifications of being a Project Management Professional®, Certified ScrumMaster® and Certified Agile Leader®. Additionally, I have over 25 years of experience as a detailed oriented executive office administrator. While I do have a strong work ethic, lots of enthusiasm, and personal drive, my ultimate love is for God, my children and grandchildren.

Sharing information and my life's experiences with others, consulting, helping, advising and encouraging them, are a few of the many things that I find most fulfilling. I am one who enjoys communicating, building alliances, writing, envisioning, traveling, and creating.

My life's mission is to reunify families torn and broken by the scars of addiction.

My Spiritual Gifts are Administration, Teaching, and Evangelism. I am a four year graduate of Evangelical Training Association (ETA), with a Leadership in Ministry Degree, also bearing certification to teach all of the courses under the ETA umbrella. I am a current active member of Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church (GMCHC), in Washington, DC where I graduated from Homiletics at Calvary Bible Institute, under the instruction of Archbishop Alfred A. Owens Jr. On December 13, 2013, God birthed in me the Ministry of Mime. In addition to my own ministry MYM4Christ, I serve as the President of GMCHC's Mime Ministry and a member of the Intercessory Prayer and Greater Magazine Ministries.

On December 31, 2014, God enabled me to complete the writing my debut book, "Get Yourself Together First". This book was published on October 23, 2018. I have done several interviews, book signings, speaking engagements and subsequently in 2021 started a Podcast called GYTF Conversations.

My Personal Mission and Vision Statement is to love, build-up, mentor, teach, disciple, and train others to be HEALTHY - EFFECTIVE people first. And then, disciples and leaders according to the Word of God. (Be it through Mime, Witnessing, Speaking, Preaching, Teaching, or Writing)
