After noticing that the trauma i witnessed and experienced throughout my entire life was impacting my entire life, i knew i needed a change. I no longer wanted to just forget the sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and everything else that follows, i wanted to heal, survive and thrive. I begin working on myself. I needed to be the me that i was destined to be. I wanted to be mom that my children deserved. I wanted to honestly say "I love me some me" and help others do the same.
After working through my trauma, i begin working in areas that would challenge me; areas such as homelessness, sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, mental health and substance abuse. Although i knew each area from personal experiences, i needed to learn how it impacted other people and what my role could be in their healing processes. Today, i am an MSW and working to complete my PhD IN Social Work. Not bad for a kid born on the southside of Chicago with nothing more than a G.E.D and the resilience obtained from trying to survive
