3d printing promises to enable consumers to print most products locally and on demand. But perhaps most importantly, 3d printing is uniquely capable of promoting environmentally sustainable product lifecycles, an essential aspect of the circular economy.This development must be actively shapen by designing recyclable and reusable materials and products, and by going on biobased resources. After working for more than 3 years in the 3d printing industry, it got clear to me that the main players are not setting these foundations in the right way but rather following the demands of the customers who mainly know the fossil based materials. Therefore I created Circular3d: A digital platform driving sustainability and ecological developments in the 3d printing ecosystem by sharing knowledge, enabling collaboration and facilitating action.
