About
Why Choose Me I don’t speak in theory — I speak from lived leadership and lived caregiving experience. For more than three decades, I worked inside organizations leading HR and training functions and advising executives on culture, accountability, and performance. Then dementia entered my life through my mother, and it sharpened everything I thought I knew about communication, patience, power, and presence. That intersection — leadership and dementia — defines my work. I speak about leadership the way it actually shows up: in the conversations leaders avoid, the signals they send without realizing it, and the behaviors they tolerate that quietly shape trust, engagement, and results. Through the dementia lens, audiences also see how clarity, dignity, and human connection matter even more when pressure is high and answers are unclear. Audiences choose my work because it’s: Direct and human — no buzzwords, no Hallmark Credible — grounded in executive leadership and lived experience Practical — clear takeaways leaders can use immediately Memorable — candid, insightful, and often uncomfortably honest Whether I’m speaking about leadership, culture, or the hidden cost of caregiving, the goal is the same: help people see themselves — and others — more clearly, and lead with intention instead of habit.
The Hidden Cost of Caregiving - What Leaders Miss — and How It Shows Up at Work
Caregiving doesn’t announce itself at work — it leaks out. In focus. In energy. In decisions. In who stops raising their hand and who quietly walks away. Most leaders don’t recognize it until the damage is already done. Caregiving is already inside every organization, affecting performance, availability, and retention in ways that are easy to misread. Strong performers pull back. High-potential leaders decline opportunities. Valued employees disengage or leave without explanation. What looks like a work problem is often a life reality leaders never see. The cost is significant. Caregiving now carries an estimated $157 billion annual impact on employers, driven by lost productivity, absenteeism, turnover, and burnout. Yet it remains largely invisible — because people don’t want to look unreliable, distracted, or less committed. This session helps leaders recognize how caregiving actually shows up at work, where assumptions get it wrong, and how everyday leadership behaviors either increase strain or reduce it. This is not about lowering standards or creating special treatment. It’s about leading with clearer eyes so performance, trust, and talent don’t erode quietly. Caregiving isn’t a personal issue outside of work. It’s a leadership issue hiding in plain sight.
How Old Are You Today? — A New Way to Stay Connected When Dementia Changes Everything
When dementia enters a relationship, familiar ways of communicating stop working — and many people are left feeling lost, frustrated, or disconnected. This talk tells the story of how one simple daily question became a bridge back to connection, meaning, and even joy. Through real stories and lived experience, Glenna shares how understanding where someone is in their memory can change everything about how we relate, communicate, and stay in relationship when memory and logic fade.
Staying in Relationship When Memory Is Gone
This talk explores what it actually means to love someone whose reality no longer matches your own. Drawing from her personal journey with her mother, Glenna shares what she learned about grief, presence, and connection when memory could no longer hold a relationship together. This session offers a grounded, honest look at how relationships can evolve, deepen, and even heal — not in spite of dementia, but inside it.
