Time spent delving into the work of the real heroines of science takes us to worlds of star-gazing, of pushing against the utmost bounds of human knowledge, being bold, imaginative and decrying barriers, of pursuing dreams of expanding, understanding, healing, reproducing, seeing, remembering, discovering. This talk encourages the female scientists of today and tomorrow by applauding and lauding with recognition the females who made incredible contributions to science and have gone largely unknown. This speech shines a light on the “Matilda Effect,” the repression or denial of the contributions of female researchers to science in history. Janet will showcase the genius, tenacity, grit and determination of amazing female scientists who are the role models and the shoulders of whom shall stand all future female scientists.
