Bio

Jeannette Garcia uses her voice to empower others. A first-generation American, her modest beginnings propelled her to join the military at the age of twenty one. Her military background includes serving a deployment from 2011-2012 in Panjwai, Kandahar, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom as part of a Special Unit known as Army Female Engagement Teams. She was also a Army Military Police Officer and Federal Police Officer with the United States Air Force for a total of eight years.

Jeannette is known for sharing her story about domestic violence, sexual assault and war – empowering others to continue sharing their experience and breaking the silence of trauma. In 2020, Jeannette launched her website www.wesurvivedtrauma.com to give those the voice to share. Having a career that was male dominated, Jeannette became silent and let her traumas be unknown. She was only able to be silent for a while till she came to the realization she was able to help others.

This California native now resides in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a single mother to a little boy and has a full time career in Events.

  • It was an honor and a great pleasure to meet such a strong survivor. We are glad that Ms. Jeanette came for the NVC Veteran support event on our campus. She will definitely give a light and a chance for those who are suffering the same thing or other traumas or even just continuing life to keep on fighting, give hope and never give up. Her empowerment and experience will give a lot of inspiration to those who really need it.

  • Wonderful presentation. I have a young daughter that is in the military and would not want her to experience what Jeannette has gone through. As a 20 year veteran I recognize it is folks like Jeannette to step up and bring to light the injustices that occur on a regular basis in the military. Granted, it is a handful of awful people that get away with things and unless leadership is held accountable, it will continue to happen. I applaud Jeannette for her efforts.

  • I attended Jeannette Garcia's Surviving Trauma virtual event at Middlesex Community College. The event was put together well and I was moved by the way Garcia spoke about her experience. At one point, my eyes started to water. Some of the details she included were brutal, but it made me understand her more. Garcia's openness spiraled my emotions and her vulnerability made it hard for me to control the flood of thoughts that overcame my mind. Speaking on trauma is never an easy thing. I believe Garcia displayed a lot of bravery and had an authentic voice that truly highlighted the hardships many veterans go through. Also, I enjoyed that she was not afraid to show her personality and lightened the mood whenever possible. There was pain in the presentation, but good moments as well. Commercials tend to display the strength and successes of serving in the United States army which can be deceiving and contradictive. Through Garcia's message I further realized how much hurt people endure behind closed doors. I admired Garcia's spirit. She created a powerful message that aimed to uplift others. No matter the severity of the battle, people deserve to find peace and solutions to their issues. Garcia made sure to clarify that strength comes from seeking help instead of allowing pain and struggles burden people's soul and life. I give credit to Garcia for withstanding the rough circumstances life presented her. Her story was important to hear and inspired me to treat others more carefully and with care. Learning about how Garcia prevailed was inspiring. By the end of the presentation, I was still digesting all the information she shared with us. My loss of words was an indicator of how fantastic the experience was.

  • Ms. Jeannette Garcia is an excellent and highly motivational speaker. She is brave to tell her story to encourage people like her who experienced or are still experiencing traumatic incidents that have significantly affected their well-being. She is not afraid to stand up for herself and those who share this battle with her. We managed to communicate with her smoothly, and her words were very insightful for us and the audience. She, along with her story, is an inspiration. If an opportunity arises again, we would love to work with her for sure.
