Jennifer Hartman NP, RN, CGRA, BHCN
Coming from a unique place of personal experience and passion, Jennifer Hartman is a longstanding Nurse Practitioner and International Professional Speaker who is committed to ensuring breast cancer patients never have to fight their battles alone. Currently specializing in surgical breast oncology, Jennifer holds an extensive 14+ year nursing background involving (but not limited to) high-risk breast care, cancer genetics, breast cancer survivorship, gynecological care, and homeless healthcare. Even more, she enjoys leveraging that clinical dynamicity, along with her own personal history of undergoing prophylactic bilateral mastectomy, to ensure individuals feel confident, heard, and never forget their innate worth as they take on one of the most arduous chapters of their lives.
Born in Greenwich, CT and later making Indiana her home, Jennifer discovered early on that pursuing a career in nursing was her passion, becoming a nurse practitioner at the age of 23. Part of that stems from her altruistic nature to help others and part from being able to deeply connect with people on a personalized, immersive level. With this as her base, Jennifer attained her BSN and MSN from Purdue University and began practicing nursing in 2008. However, in 2016, Jennifer found herself on the other side of the exam table when testing positive for a BRCA1 gene mutation. In response, Jennifer underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction at the age of 29, officially making her a breast cancer 'previvor.' In addition, Jennifer also understands the loss that can come from this disease, as her mother was taken from her in 2022 from metastatic breast cancer; just 3 years after being diagnosed. Though challenging on a personal level, Jennifer has since blended these experiences with her clinical expertise as fuel to help others facing the same realities, whether that be by their side during treatment or on stage spreading much-needed motivation and awareness.
To Jennifer, her patient's wins are her wins, she is a strong breast cancer awareness advocate, and is always remaining updated on the current industry innovations and trends to optimize the entire clinical experience. However, when Jennifer is not caring for patients or presenting at various educational/motivational speaking engagements, you can often find her volunteering at a free clinic providing women's healthcare (since 2014), training for half-marathons, traveling to sample new cultures, and above all, being a proud IVF mother to a beautiful daughter.
