Kenan Mujkanovic’s parents came to this country to escape the genocide in his home country, Bosnia and Herzegovina. They arrived in this country with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a grocery bag. His parents worked two jobs each just to support him. Growing up in poverty, Kenan witnessed everything a man could in a lifetime at a young age. He had to learn the English language on his own, and Kenan had to teach it to my parents and siblings as well. It wasn’t until Kenan was becoming an adolescent that he was able to move into a middle-class environment. At the age of 16, Kenan started his own non-profit organization called Young Visionaries Foundation. Kenan started this organization as an effort to assist those in poverty and to instill the value of education in the minds of the youth. In the process of doing so, he aimed to inspire all those around him. To date, Young Visionaries Foundation has successfully hosted 24 events in which 10,000 pounds of food and hundreds of books have been distributed to those in poverty. Kenan has received the Jefferson Award, which is known as the Nobel Peace Prize for public service as well as the National Caring Award, which is given in Mother Teresa’s name. Individuals such as Muhammad Ali and Edward M Kennedy are recipients of the National Caring Award. Kenan is the first Bosnian-American and the only person from Bowling Green, Kentucky to receive this award. In January of 2017, Kenan self-published his own book, Voices of Bowling Green: Tales of Young Visionaries. This book, which is a collection of stories of Bowling Green youth and a personal narrative, was written in dedication to his city, Bowling Green. The book went on to sell out in-stores and online in Barnes & Noble twenty four hours after release. It has also placed on Amazon’s Top 100 Best-Sellers list eleven days after release. In June of 2017, Kenan started a digital marketing company called Visionary Media. The company specializes in branding, logo design, network expansion, social media account management, website development & website management, photography services, and video services. The company still operates to this day. Since the start of Visionary Media, Kenan achieved the 40 under 40 award, and he was the youngest of the group to do so.
