Shakiya "Keya" Steward is the owner of Keya Speaks, a coaching and consulting business. Keya provides coaching and consulting for a variety of disciplines, to include relationships, career, mental health, business and spiritual growth, specializing in women and girls. She has used her creativity to develop and design websites, strategic plans and restructure organizations for high level effectiveness.
Keya formerly served as the Program Director for Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads where she provided support in leadership, training, public speaking, community outreach and grant writing. Some of her successes was seeing the growth and expansion of the organization from 11 schools to 20 and additional staff. Under her leadership the organization sustained during the pandemic and the progress and outcomes of those served increased significantly. She led a team of 20 school-based site coordinators in 21 schools and 6 school districts.
Within her local community Keya volunteers and has served on nonprofit boards. She has been a featured panelist on several virtual events regarding racism and social bias as well as trauma in schools. Opportunities have been provided where she has been featured on local news stations and interviewed for newspaper articles to provide insight into students, mental health, education as well as race relations.
Educationally, she has attained a BA of Psychology from Ashford University, a MA of Human Services Counseling and a MA of Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University.
As a proud single mother of 22-year-old Azhante and 15-year-old Nassir she knows that they are her greatest accomplishments. She considers it an honor to be their mom regardless of the headaches and trials that they face together. Keya loves God, His Word, His people and has a strong desire to see the will of God lived out in her life and all those that she meets.
