Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Kimbrough.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story? How did you get to where you are today?
I served 31 years speaking and 30 of those years were spent as supervisor, plant manager, sales manager. Had the pleasure to train under some of the best managers in the world. I found my niche is turning struggling companies around, from faltering to success. I have trained sales force, sales managers and executives to be more aware, focused and organized. Reducing waste and placing the right man in the right job. All these things affect the bottom line and that is the holy grail we are all after. It mainly has to do with process, I have developed many, one that every employee and company should be following is what I call the want it, need it and got to have it concept. Through my speeches and training, I feel I am giving back to help the future, maybe give someone a leg up on life. I do many events at churches and youth groups to guide our children and let them know someone is there to help.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
I excelled at my jobs and would be promoted over many people that had been there much longer than I had and they were always older than me. I had to build a team that would see that working under a younger man could still help them in their career. I had to grow up and mature much faster than normal in order to make a situation like that be successful. I also did not have a college degree and many of the people working under me did. I had to study and work twice as hard as anyone else to prove myself. I had to be mature and intelligent but I also had hands-on experience and that was a big help to me. Even now, I see companies hiring a college graduate that has no experience therefore he does not understand what the floor worker is facing every day. That makes it almost impossible for him to properly communicate with the employees. I train them to bridge that gap of education to the experience, then the proper communication can take place.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I do motivational/Inspirational speeches but my biggest program is the training. I go to my clients for the purpose of training bad behavior out of the, to get them fired up and refocused. I teach them about organizational skills, getting the right man in the right job, and reducing waste. The main idea is to control the bottom line through proper techniques and processes. I am at a position in life where I have done most of what I want to do, now I want to be in a position to help people. I know if I help a company or individual become more successful, they and their families all reap the benefits. I work hard to make sure I do not give the client a “canned” performance.
