Lisa boasts an illustrious educational background. She was among the pioneering group of female Editors-In-Chief for college newspapers. At Middle Tennessee State University, she excelled as a hard news reporter and Editor and became the very first Producer and Newswriter for MTSU's inaugural broadcast news station, Channel 22, Newview. In recognition of her excellence in journalism, Lisa received an award in 1984, further supplemented by a scholarship specifically for female Editors.
Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications. She continued her academic pursuits at the University of Tennessee College of Law, obtaining her Juris Doctor degree in 1996. During her time at law school, Lisa concurrently served as a Copy Editor for UT's Daily Beacon and interned at the Law Offices of James A H Bell.
