When leaders and employees feel safe to be and express themselves, learn, make mistakes, contribute, and challenge the status quo, they are more likely to bring their best self to work, and more likely to stay with their organization. But what constitutes psychological safety and what are the factors that threaten and cultivate it. In this talk, Dr. Clairborne defines psychological safety, its components, what threatens and destroys it, and lay out the path for how leaders can begin to create psychologically safe cultures to help their workforce thrive.
