Michael has had a long career in public relations, which included working for major publicly-owned groups, including Weber Shandwick – based in Hong Kong and then London – and latterly at Grayling where he was global CEO.
He now runs his own advisory firm, Michael Murphy & Ltd, and is developing a portfolio of non-executive, advisory and project roles. In September, 2014 he was appointed as a Senior Global Adviser to Waggener Edstrom, the leading global and independent integrated communications agency with 750 staff in 17 offices around the world. His other roles include Non-Executive Chairman of Waypoint Partners and Coverdale Barclay.
He has over 25 years of experience in helping organisations to change and adapt, become more efficient and successfully develop. In addition, Michael was a non-executive director of Think London, London's inward investment agency, is a former member of the CBI London Council and was a trustee of the charity Action on Addiction. He currently serves as Governor of London Metropolitan University and is a member of The Superbrands Council.
