Mimi is an impact-driven plastic waste management and circularity entrepreneur and executive with a vision of a zero plastic waste future. She is Co-Founder and CEO of Myanmar Recycles, a pioneer and market leader for post-consumer plastic bag collection and recycling based in Yangon, Myanmar. Her latest venture Global Green Solutions offers consulting and advisory on plastic waste management to organizations and companies actively solving the global plastic pollution crisis - ranging from DFIs and global startups to petrochemical companies and brands.
Mimi spent 11 years living and working in frontier markets in Asia and Africa in the fields of sustainability, global public health, public policy, financial inclusion, and economic growth. She is an experienced executive with expertise in new market entry, business development and strategy, operational design and management, sales, fundraising, government relations, and team building. Prior to founding Myanmar Recycles, she notably worked with the World Bank, IFC (World Bank Group), USAID, and Management Sciences for Health.
Mimi has a Master of Public Policy and BA Economics from the University of Virginia (USA) and completed INSEAD’s Social Entrepreneurship Programme. She is a Cartier Women’s Initiative Fellow and Wild Digital’s BOOM21 Disruptor of the Year 2021. Through Myanmar Recycles, Mimi was selected to pilot 3R Initiative's first ever global plastic credits market and joined the Alliance to End Plastic Waste’s and Plug and Play’s End Plastic Waste Innovation Platform accelerator.
