Energy policy is a principle or course of action that aims to maintain or change the status of targeted scopes in terms of energy system development. Contemplating a policy cycle, setting objectives, program costing, implementation, and monitoring measures, among others, are known exigencies. At first glance, this study reviews twelve renewable energy policies from different countries in various regions. Then, the authors evaluate the comprehensiveness of the studied policies in terms of transdisciplinary analysis of efficiency (technical, technological, and ecological), sustainability (environmental, institutional, economic, social, and technical), and recent worldwide policy development and strategic management practices to establish a novel framework for energy policy development.
