This is my bio, this is me and I kindly ask you to have a read because we all go through hard times in life, no matter our job, age, sex or place in society.
So where do I start? Unhappy at school, under achievement, some bullying, some hard times financially, a stressed father and a mother who was clinically depressed, oh and 4 siblings (who I have to say have all achieved professionally and personally and are wonderful people). I know I have had hard times and certainly there have been plenty of lows. I lost my father at 18 and my mother at 32 through ill health, I have had over 22 years of dealing with depression, stress and anxiety, I have been a police officer for over 16 years and in that time I have been involved in the London bombings, I have been assaulted including being stabbed, I have dealt with suicide, mental health, vulnerable people and seen things that no person should ever see.
In November 2017 I hit a big wall and I had no where to go, my coping strategies had gone and I felt that I could not go on, especially with the circumstances as they were. If one part of your life is suffering but everything else is good you can get by, but if every part is suffering then it is nearly impossible to go on.
So what did I do? Well I am married with two kids, I have bills and a mortgage to pay and people who rely on me, there was only one thing to do, fight back, find new strategies to cope, I was fed up with being depressed. I had to look the beast in the eyes and take it on, I knew I hat to win. I obtained professional support and decided that I had to change my life and strive for optimum well-being and this started with being honest and sharing my story.
A year later I am still here, ploughing through life, having more good days than bad days. I am a father, husband, brother and uncle and I want to be the best I can be. I set goals and I have lot's of ambition. I am dealing with my mental health, building a coaching business and inspiring, encouraging and supporting anyone who wants to talk and listen.
I decided to use the thing that had tried to damage my life for over 22 years and use it to make the next however many years. I use my life experience and all the skills and knowledge I have obtained in my life to inspire and motivate others. I love listening, sharing and talking to people whether it be individuals or groups, large and small.
So why would you not want me to speak to you, to visit your business, public sector organisation, school, college or university? I will share my story if asked and I will talk about depression, stress management, anxiety, goal setting, work-life balance and anything else that will help.
Motivational speaking, coaching, listening, empathy, sharing experiences and setting goals all assist to make a better future.
