Bio

Prem is a mountaineer with over 15 expeditions across the globe in a short span of 8 years.

In 2013 alone, Prem climbed the highest mountains on four continents, including Mount Everest (Asia), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Aconcagua (South-America) and Puncak Jaya (Oceania). More recently Prem was featured as one of the contestants on a NDTV Prime reality show "XC Adventure", which he won.

Prem has spoken at various events for various organisations which include : EZSywpe India, Constitution Club of India, Aryabhatta College, Entrepreneurship Cell of Guru Dronacharya College, Indian Navy, Delhi Police Training College, TEDx MNNIT, Wheelchair Federation, What After College, etc.

"We all have our mountains to climb in life, dreams that we want to achieve deep down, the one place where we want to be in life. But does dreaming alone take us there? Or do we need more than just dreams to be successful? What are the other factors that actually determine whether or not you will achieve your goals? What are the ingredients for success?

Drawing parallels from his experience of having climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, plus many more peaks across the globe, mountaineer Prem Kumar Singh reflects on the insights that allowed him to not only survive, but thrive in the extreme corners and conditions around the world. Prem's uniqueness is the ability to translate these lessons of the Far and Wild into an everyday language and show how the same core principles can be utilized on the path of turning your dreams into deeds, regardless of your line of business or domain.

Prem distills his long and hard-fought battles down to simple Mantras of success that cut through the often fluffy and vague inspirational jargon and provide listeners with applicable steps to implement in their daily life.

Through grit and discipline, Prem Kumar Singh has converted himself from a dreaming college-kid into one of the hardiest alpinists in India. Prem has not only ascended peaks in the Himalayas in India and Nepal, but in the far corners of the world, from the war torn lands of Russian Far South to the untouched swamps and rainforests of New Guinea, as far from the modern civilisation as anywhere on the planet.

Achievements (5)
Climbed Mount Everest - Highest mountain in the world.

At the age of 23, I was able to climb not only the highest peak in the continent of Asia - Mount Everest but of 3 more continents as well.

Standing tall at 8848 meters and with 1/3rd of the oxygen that we breath at normal altitudes that we live on, temperatures on this mountain drop to around -30'

Climbed Mount Aconcagua - Highest in South America

Mount Aconcagua is the highest Mountain in the continent of South America. It is one of the 7 summits - the highest mountain in each of the 7 continents. Standing tall at an impressive height of 6,962 m above sea level, it is the highest mountain outside of the Himalayan ranges.

Climbed Mount Elbrus - Highest in Europe

The highest mountain in the continenet of Europe is Mount Elbrus lying in the Kabradino Balkaria region of Russia in the Caucasus mountain range. A free standing dormant volcano, this mountain has some of the harshest winds known to mankind.

Climbed Carstensz Pyramid - Highest in Oceania

Tucked away in the remote island of Papua Province of Indonesia, this mountain is the highest in the continent of Oceania. This mountain demand a high level of technical efficiency and being in an island where ritualistic cannibalism is practised, makes it the most inaccessible places on the planet.

Won NDTV Volvo XC Adventure TV Show

NDTV Volvo XC Adventure was a TV show which aired 15 weekly episodes and went on for 3 months on the NDTV prime channel. Pitted against 6 different teams from across the country, it was fashioned in an elimination format. After a gruelling journey across Madhya Pradesh, my team emerged winner.

Dealing with Adversities - Learnings from the field of mountaineering

Uncertain times bring adversities in all our lives. Not always are our situations always in our control. How does one deal with it ?

A mountaineer's life is full of various adversities on every single step, from extremely cold temperature to the deadly effects of high altitude, from invisible crevice to thunderous loud avalanches. How do they deal with adversities are what are the similarities that can be drawn ?

Mount Everest - Management lessons from the Death Zone.

Working in an area where everything including the atmosphere is trying to kill, where the chances of success are minuscule and the difference between success and failure can mean death, leading teams to success takes impeccable management tricks and techniques.

Join me in this session for management lessons that make potentially expeditions in the most extreme corners of the planet into a grand success.

Being crazy isn't enough.

An idea takes much more than just a streak of crazy belief in it to make it come alive. And while most people call you crazy for thinking out of the box ( you secretly like being called crazy), let’s not get comfortable or carried away by this, you know that it will take a lot more than just your trust in your vision. What are those things ? Just like going on an expedition, the journey of a startup too is a crazy ride into the unknown. In this session Prem brings in his experience from his mountaineering expeditions and shares his insight of how improvisation and perseverance is the key to a successful venture.

Everest was not climbed in a day.

Every dream comes with a price tag and more often than not the price includes the traits of the pursuer’s perseverance. Just like Everest was not climbed in a day, dreams wont come true immediately, one has to be determined and pay the price in terms of man hours invested. But if you just hang in there, your dreams will come true.

Change your CAN'Ts into CANs and your DREAMS into PLANS

Having led various teams into the unknown and dangerous territories of various mountain ranges in freezing temperatures and hostile weather conditions and yet managing to keep them motivated towards a goal is an everyday job that mountain leaders do. For the corporate setups, Prem distills his experiences to draw parallels of leadership under extreme stress and how to keep motivation levels high in conditions when everything seems to be going against you.

Your mountain is waiting.

This sessions is all about finding your calling and embarking on it. And drawing from his experiences of chasing and fulfilling his own dream of climbing Mount Everest, Prem shall speak about what he thinks are necessary attributes to posses along with a dreaming heart to make that dream come true.

Why do we climb ?

Exploring the idea of why does one commit to the seemingly stupid task of climbing mountains. what does it takes to do so and what frame of mind does one do it with ? and does this particular frame of mind help us in achieving other goals in life as well.

  • Prem offered an engaging talk sharing lessons on goal setting, leadership and execution through his experiences in mountaineering. The stories, photos & videos, and concepts both resonated with the audience and created an opportunity to daydream and travel if only in our imaginations as we were all remote, home and in quarantine.

  • Dear Prem, Thank you for taking us to the mountains! The words you spoke painted such a clear picture, it was like we were climbing that mountain with you. The journey that you took to the mountains, the preparation and the adversities that you faced - with regards to the weather, fatigue, decision making on whether or not you should continue climbing based on the conditions, struck a chord in our hearts. For most of us who for some reason or the other are not able to physically see it, we got not just a glimpse but the very taste of the adventure. Thank you for giving us hope that wheelchair users too can make it up the mountains someday. Something you said really resonated with us - that consistent daily preparation/practice/exercise is much better than event focussed preparation.Your preparation involved the physical aspect of exercising, your mental preparation involved studying the terrain, route mapping, contingency plans and emotional prep. In fact this is how it is on court for us wheelchair basketball players too, and it was encouraging to hear how you prepare. Thank you for inspiring and encouraging us, helping us believe that no mountain is too high for one who is determined to climb. Jai Hind!
