This investment can lead to new industries and economic opportunities, making space technologies a catalyst for broader development.

There is an assumption that humanity could self-destruct in a future world war, be destroyed by an advanced AI, or even by a major cosmic incident, such as a giant meteorite hitting the Earth. As a solution, some space exploration advocates propose “colonizing” other planets to avoid humanity’s extinction in the event of a global catastrophe on Earth, making it possible for humans to live and work in space and become a multi-planetary species. However, when we look back in time at the troubles and chaos that “colonization” has brought to human civilization, we should be concerned about not repeating the same mistakes that led to horrific wars, population exterminations, and other crimes against humanity. How do we ensure we bring a new and morally advanced version of ourselves into the new beginning that could be possible for humanity in space? To address these concerns, we must explore the resistances that could be faced and propose solution-oriented ideas that can be implemented.
