Automation: Forget the technology, focus on the culture!

Automation is currently a focus topic for many IT departments. It is often overlooked that in successful automation projects it is not the change to a new technology that is decisive - but the cultural change within the department, the company.
In this lecture, participants will learn that it depends on the acceptance of all users of the system, why islands are not a good idea for automation, and that automation does not have to take care of individual servers, but business processes.

Security Automation with Ansible

Security is hard. We know what needs to be done, but configuring systems and applications, especially thousands of them, to make life more difficult for attackers is daunting. Learn to use the agentless, push-based power of Ansible to apply and enforce security standards that adapt to meet internal and external security guidelines.

Ansible Roadmap & Demo

An overview about the past, present and future of Ansible, Ansible Tower and the open source projects that stand behind both.

Automating Your Business Application REST API with Ansible

In times of limited time, money, staff and overall resources, automation is essential for any IT operation to stay competitive. But too often automation focuses solely on single servers - only deploying software and configuration. But today's data center automation needs to integrate servers, services and applications with each other. And with Ansible you can address this challenge. In this session, you will learn how you can use Ansible to talk to your business application's REST API - and to develop your own Ansible modules doing just that. The presentation will cover how to talk to generic REST APIs with existing Ansible modules, best practices and common challenges, and how to write your own module to manage your business application's REST API.

Network Automation with Ansible

In today's network environments the typical way to do things is often: manual tasks. While this worked the last 30 years, network admins need new ways to approach the challenges of future tasks.
Meet Ansible, an automation tool which is increasingly used to automate Linux, Unix and Windows environments, and see how it can help to automate your networking environment. Step by step.

Are you listening to what SELinux is telling you?

SELinux is one of the key security features within Linux. It is a foundational part of many modern technologies like containers. With a history of more than 15 years, SELinux is well known among system administrators—yet too often not activated on outside facing, production systems. In this session, you'll learn how to use SELinux—from implementation through ongoing management—particularly understanding what SELinux is trying to tell you and what actions you should take based on the information. Dan Walsh, Red Hat principal security engineer (a.k.a. "Mr. SELinux"), will walk you through best practices and actual implementations, including set up and configuration, labeling, patching and maintenance, protection from hackers, and more. To bring it to life, you'll hear the implementation challenges and successes from IT.NRW, a German government IT service provider, which used SELinux to secure a 3rd party app integrated into their web environment. Today they use SELinux on over 100 servers—and you'll learn why it's worth it to deploy SELinux in your production environment, too.

Manage Windows with Ansible: The what, the why, and the how?

It’s hard to find a homogeneous IT stack nowadays. Your management and automation tools need to be able to handle multiple, vastly different targets—Linux, Unix, networking, cloud services … and Windows. You can manage it all with Red Hat Ansible Automation. Ansible Automation supports Windows natively as a first-class citizen.

In this session, we'll talk about how to connect to Windows machines from Ansible Automation and take the first steps, but we'll quickly dive into more advanced topics interesting to the serious Windows admins in attendance. By the time you leave this session you'll know:
• Why it is awesome to manage Windows with Ansible Automation.
• What you need to to know when you connect.
• How to manage software packages.
• Why dsc is great with Ansible Automation.
• How to get proper access rights.

Ansible Best Practices

Make the most out of Ansible: learn the best practices of and around Ansible. How to organize code, how to set up inventory and variables, tricks for the command line, how to improve the playbooks - and also how to bring teams together and how to use it in real life.

Securing your deployment of Ansible Automation: Reference architecture and best practices

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform can be a powerful tool to support security teams in investigation and remediation activities. But where does it fit in best? What are some recommendations, best practices, and pitfalls to avoid? In this session, we’ll show you how to implement and integrate Ansible in your security infrastructure, learn how to get productive fast, and what you should look out for.
