Sean Keefer serves Ecolab as Director of State and Local Government Relations. Prior to his role with Ecolab, he served as Regional Director of Public Affairs for Pearson North America, an education & technology company. In that role, he managed public and government affairs at the state, federal and global level. He also managed key relationships at the National Governors Association (NGA), the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), as well as the Indiana and Minnesota Chambers of Commerce.
Prior to Pearson, Sean spent a decade working for Indiana Governors Mike Pence and Mitch Daniels in several senior level positions. In the Pence administration, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Policy and Legislative Director and Commissioner of Labor & OSHA. In the Daniels' administration, he served as Chief of Staff at the Indiana State Department of Health and Deputy Commissioner at the Indiana Department of Labor. In those roles, he was awarded the Commissioners’ Awards in Labor and Health and the Sagamore of the Wabash Honor.
Previously, he served as Global Director of Health and Science Policy with the American College of Sports Medicine and as a public affairs consultant at Bose Public Affairs in Indianapolis, IN. He also studied, taught and worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina for two years.
Sean received a B.A. in political economics from Hillsdale College, earned a Masters of Arts in European Affairs from Indiana University, and completed graduate work in international affairs from Georgetown University & Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Buenos Aires, ARG). He is fluent in Spanish.
