Religious Education in Judaism is a broad umbrella term that encompasses the various aspects of Jewish education. In our fast-paced digital world it is more important than ever for us as Jews to learn about our heritage and traditions. Today’s young people need a strong grounding in our Torah and its commandments if they are going to thrive as adults and make their own positive contributions as part of society.

Sefer in Judaism is a book of Jewish laws. It contains detailed instructions on how to live a life in accordance with the Torah, specifically as it applies to daily activities like eating, sleeping and maintaining communal norms of decency and modesty at home. Sefer is also the generic Hebrew word for “law” or “decree” or “instruction”. This article focuses primarily on what seder means in Jewish law and who should learn it.
