I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and best-selling author, and my goal is to help you discover new ways to grow outside of your role. I have been fortunate enough to create a career that combines my passions both in and out of the hospital, and I hope to share my insight, experience, and journey with you.
I self published my first book, “Oh Sh*t, I Almost Killed You! A Little Book of Big Things Nursing School Forgot to Teach You” while working as a nurse in the intensive care unit. What started as a bucket list goal by my 30th birthday has since sold over 160,000 copies in paperback alone.
After losing my mother unexpectedly in September of 2021, I wrote my second book. “Coffee with My Dead Mother: Lessons on Loss, Hope, & Navigating a New Normal” is a labor of love written in just four days, and was released in February of 2022. I am certain that my mom was with me the entire time, as her story – and my own – poured out of me onto a keyboard.
Newly released in May 2022, I started my third book years ago, but was too scared to publish something so raw and personal related to the nursing profession. To be sure, “You Won’t Feel a Thing: The Drama, Tragedy, & Comedy of Nursing” serves as a commentary on bedside nursing and why I left. It is something that will resonate with healthcare providers at every stage of their career, and in every arena.
In addition to these publications, I’ve written on behalf of numerous nursing and lifestyle outlets including “The Huffington Post,” and have spoken both in person and virtually at a variety of nursing and healthcare based events.
I hope to inspire each and every one of you to find your passion, no matter how great or small, and permit yourself to remain endlessly curious. It's time to talk less about work, and more about wellness!
