Since I was a young girl I loved Business. I knew in my heart that one day I would have my own. My Mother and Father worked very hard. My Grandmother did as well. I analyzed their hard work and it was hard to believe that as much as they worked it really didn't put a dent in much. I didn't know what poor was but I knew that we didn't have a lot. My parents divorced and life got very real. We moved from house to house, sometimes with family and small apartments. Once I had my first child I knew that I had to do better in order to have better. It was a rough road but by the grace of God I made it through college to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration,Small Business Management, and Entrepreneurship. After so many down moments, my why took off. Securing a future for my children to no longer have to live in poverty was my drive. Through God's guidance, grace and mercy I won my first contract with the City of Philadelphia. It was an amazing contract that helped to employ many people in the community and earn over $1 million in 5 years. I didn't stop, I bought into a Commercial Cleaning Franchise and then another one. I also opened an Art Shop on Germantown and Venango Streets where artist could create and sell their work.
After several years my children started to come into my office and see the work that was going on. My final business was the Urban Community Resource Center, a non-profit organization. We help community members with employments, housing, food, clothing and so much more. It was truly exciting to be part of something so magical. Our offices helped change the lives of over 300 community members in the Fairhill neighborhood.
As I felt myself being spread too thin I decided to go back to college. This time it was for a career I had always wanted to do but put off to be an Entrepreneur. I was on my way to Temple University where I completed my first Master's Degree in Education and also earn my PA Teacher Certification in Business Education. I will always be in Business! I caught the bug for the love of Education and earned my second Master's Degree in Education for Curriculum and Instruction. Now almost 10 years later I have been teaching it to students at the high school level. and I love it.
My experience catapulted me to into being a leader in education where I spearheaded several educational programs. I became an
Adult Education Instructor with the Center for Literacy. After teaching adults I turned to teaching the subject I love to others in education.
Currently, I am an Instructional Coach to teachers. Listening to their request for help, providing professional development and building capacity within others is truly inspiring. I am excited and full of joy to share my story, resources and life with others!
