Bio

Dr. Suzanne Doyle-Morris works across sectors on improving gender balance, but has worked in finance with clients ranging from Barclays, Old Mutual Group, Societe Generale, Morgan Stanley, State Street Bank and Citibank to smaller firms such as Architas via AXA. Her presentations are noted for their practicality, warmth and even humour on what can be contentious topics such as quotas, pay gap data and even what she calls the 'benevolent sexism'.

Dr. Doyle-Morris received her PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she focused on the experiences of women working in male dominated fields. This led to a 15 year career advising cross-sector organisations on both the benefits of gender balance and improved inclusion, as well as how to make progress; more relevant than ever in an age of increased transparency, gender pay gap data and increased legislation around diversity.

Regularly interviewed by the press for her views, she's written 2 books popular with the corporate sector: 'Beyond the Boys Club: How to Achieve Career Success as a Woman Working in a Male Dominated Field' and 'Female Breadwinners: Why they are the Future of the Modern Workforce and How they Make Relationships Work'.

Raise Your Profile with Authenticity to Move Beyond the Boys' Club

A firm favourite since it accompanied her first book; ‘Beyond the Boys’ Club’, Dr. Doyle-Morris uses this presentation to offer tangible strategies that benefit both female and male audience members. She helps people own their achievements to become comfortable with self-promotion for themselves and their teams, to get the recognition they deserve. Building on her long-standing coaching practice and academic research, Dr. Doyle-Morris focuses on:

1. Getting comfortable with being ‘80% perfect’
2. ‘Tooting your own horn’ whilst maintaining your credibility and authenticity
3. Recognising you won’t get the next level without delegating more at both work and home

How Proactive Companies Adapt to the Rise of Female Breadwinners

Organisations must adapt to the rising tide of women who are the main earners for their family, which has changed the face of both the modern workplace and the future talent force. Drawing from her second book ‘Female Breadwinners’ Dr. Doyle-Morris then addresses how organisations and individuals can evolve to retain and develop key talent for the future. This includes:

1. Rewarding ‘quiet leadership’
2. Moving mentoring towards sponsorship
3. Highlighting the internal ‘inclusion heroes’ and the pockets of

Unleash your Gendered Superpowers

Both men and women have unique intrinsic ‘superpowers’ that have been tangibly linked to bottom line benefits. But too frequently, we expect the minority group to act like the majority group in order to get ahead. Rather than encourage women to become more masculine in order to succeed, encouraging people to be more authentic…and be rewarded for it, is the only way for proactive organisations to get ahead. Smart organisations capitalise on difference.

This talk focuses on:

1. Understanding how gendered skills are linked to profitability
2. Recognising gender is only one part of diversity, but one the creates profitable innovation
3. Taking up power poses to own your space and impress stakeholders

When the Chips are Down: Growing Resilience in an Unstable World

In her most personal presentation yet, Dr. Suzanne Doyle-Morris takes on resilience – a vital characteristic for successful professionals in an increasingly volatile world. She’ll speak from her own experience as an IT company founder, iterating at every step. Drawing on her 25 years of expertise on workplace gender balance, Suzanne discusses how ‘resilience’ has historically been a gendered concept – limiting both men and women. She’ll share what works, but also what failed – and vitally – how she, and you can keep going and ultimately succeed.

With practical exercises, you’ll leave with tools to:

1. Recognise you should be your own biggest competitor
2. Build your support team – starting at home
3. Transform ‘what’s the worst that could happen?’ into your biggest motivation

Debunking the the Con Job: Getting Ahead for Competence in a World Obsessed with Confidence

You’re skilled...but do you sometimes feel overlooked at work?

Not progressing at work is often blamed on ‘lack of confidence’, but this excuse is a total con job. It misses genuine competence, conveniently rewards the status quo, and distracts us from understanding the context of what really drives confidence. This hoax means we fail to get the right people into the best jobs.
Using the strategies covered in ‘The Con Job’, this presentation, often delivered with Q&A or a panel, helps audiences:

● Capitalise on what you are doing well to silence the ‘imposter’.
● Convince others to value your hard-earned experience.
● Redefine confidence so it doesn’t continue to advantage the ‘status quo’.

Let Dr. Doyle-Morris work with your audience to debunk the greatest ‘Con Job’ to get ahead.
