Become a great people manager: How to take a coaching approach to people management

The ability to take a coaching approach to people management is a skill and an art. In this class, I unpack how a coaching approach is different from mentoring and traditional management or consulting. I also cover the vast benefits of taking a coaching approach to people management. I  teach relevant coaching techniques including appreciative inquiry, that are applicable for great people management. I also offer strategies to help you get in the right 'head' and 'heart' space to have conversations with the level of neutrality and curiosity that are essential for coaching and required for these conversations to be constructive leaving your direct reports empowered to solve their own problems. This knowledge is then cemented through role-play practice with realistic scenarios and lots of feedback.

Learning to lean into tough conversations with ease

The ability to take a coaching approach to difficult conversations is a skill and an art. In this presentation I teach relevant coaching techniques that are applicable for navigating these conversations. I
teach leaders how to get in the right ‘head’ and ‘heart’ space to have tough conversations with the level of neutrality and curiosity required for these conversations to be constructive. This knowledge is then cemented through realistic scenarios and lots of feedback through role-play practice.

Maximize productivity and reduce overwhelm through effective delegation

Even seasoned leaders sometimes struggle with delegation. This skill is essential for leaders to master so they can have the space they need to think strategically and manage people well. In this highly interactive presentation I teach your leaders to make explicit requests instead of soft requests and cement this learning with practice and feedback.

Developing habits to meet goals

Is there a habit that you've been trying to form that you just can't seem to consistently do? It's incredibly frustrating and you're starting to lose hope. The answer to cracking this nut doesn't lie in white-knuckled determination it lies your ability to implement proven advanced strategies for habit formation. In this Elective, you'll identify a habit that they've been trying to form or break unsuccessfully and we'll use that as a working example throughout the elective. I'll outline the current research literature and leverage my experience as a coach to offer a step by step process you can use for developing and breaking habits to reach goals. I'll also identify tips and common pitfalls to avoid on the journey towards habit formation. At the end of this elective, you'll take away strategies, hacks, and tools you can use for future habits you want to form or break to crush your goals.

Profound Inclusion: How to avoid rock-star bias and leverage the diverse strengths of your team

When ‘rock-star’ bias goes unchecked, we unintentionally waste the diverse intelligence of employees, particularly underrepresented populations. In this highly interactive session, you will learn the key steps of a systemic approach to interrupting 'rock-star' bias in your company. In this session you will:

Top Takeaways
1) Learn mindset reframes necessary to adopt for inclusion work

Navigating change with ease: How to lead through uncertain times

In this uplifting session, I unpack dynamics at play during periods of rapid organizational change that will help to normalize your experience and give you common language to name what is happening. I then offer tangible evidence-based strategies I've learned through leadership development to help all staff from individual contributors to senior leaders navigate this kind of change with a greater sense of grace and ease. In addition, I will review how all staff can create new habits to better prepare for when the phase of rapid expansion or VUCA change naturally ends. Some strategies highlighted include how to reframe change in a positive way, reduce anxiety, and the role of light-house leadership during rapid change seasons.

Major Take-aways:
-New language to name, describe, and normalize VUCA seasons

-Strategies you can implement to address VUCA impacts regardless of your position

-New habits that will better prepare you for the next VUCA season

  • There were a lot of tips that could be easily applied. Facilitator was very encouraging. LOVE the meditation at the beginning. Really liked how she used the same materials from the first one but added on to them for the deep dive...very effective.

  • I found the training to be very helpful. It uses real-world examples and asks you to bring issues and situations from your personal work to apply the tools that are being used. It is useful and made me feel more confident in my abilities
