Tara Furiani, Not the HR Lady
Tara Furiani, Not the HR Lady

CEO, Host, Keynote Speaker & Executive Leadership Coach

Austin, Texas

Tara Furiani has spent more than two decades inside the rooms where decisions about people, leadership, culture, money, power, and work actually get made. She has some opinions about how we could make those rooms better. An executive, author, leadership expert, speaker, and creator of Not the HR Lady, Tara is known for challenging conventional workplace thinking. Over a 21-year career, including 16 years as a Chief People Officer and senior executive, Tara has led across entertainment, financial services, non-profit, education, hospitality, media, and technology. Her experience includes organizations valued at more than $6 billion and workforces exceeding 10,000 employees globally, with leadership roles at Alamo Drafthouse, NEON Films, REACH, ACT, loanDepot, and Dale Carnegie. She has advised founders, CEOs, boards, and executive teams through growth, transformation, crisis, culture change, and the complicated human realities that rarely fit neatly onto an org chart. Today, and since 2020, Tara is the CEO and creator behind Not the HR Lady, where she brings a sharper, more human lens to leadership and the world of work through media, consulting, executive coaching, keynote speaking, and original leadership programs. She is also the creator of SAIL for Leaders & Teams, an immersive leadership-development experience aboard Virgin Voyages for professionals who need something considerably more useful than another hotel conference room seminar, hard muffins, and slide deck with yet another goal setting acronym. Her work and commentary have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, American Express Business, The Washington Post, BBC, Business Insider, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, and numerous other major media outlets. She has spoken on stages around the world, from executive conferences to the Sundance Film Festival, and previously served in an advisory board capacity supporting NASA's inclusion and equity initiatives. Tara studies human behavior… academically, professionally, personally as the Mom of 5, and from the considerably messier vantage point of actually leading people. She's an author and her sharp critique of performative workplace culture and the leadership failures hiding underneath it has earned her a spot on numerous "best of" lists. Tara is constantly exploring leadership, ambition, identity, and what happens when talented people stop building their lives around somebody else's definition of success. Tara lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, musician and producer Justin Boggs, and their beautifully busy household that also includes two Grandma's. When she isn't working, speaking, writing, or traveling, you're just as likely to find her at one of Justin's shows with the rock band, Mimiclou, cooking with her kids, playing a game of Pass the Mic, or all 9 of us taking karaoke far more seriously than the venue intended. Tara’s work is ultimately about what we build… companies, careers, cultures, reputations and lives… and whether we’re paying enough attention to what those things are building in us. Lorna Payne
Lorna Payne

Transformational life coach

United Kingdom

For the first 24 years of my life, I suffered a crippling fear of flying. It would ruin my holidays, even for months leading up to them, I would be physically ill, have constant nightmares, I truly believed an aeroplane accident was how I was going to die. It got so severe I was ready to admit defeat and never fly again, but I love the sun, and experiencing different cultures, I couldn't give in. The next time I flew I abblitorated my life-long phobia in a split second, and I want to share my story so you can do the same, because you can. Since then i've gone through huge changes in all areas of my life, not just the one. I found out about a famous coach who had a similar experience to mine, I learnt what actually happened to me on that plane, and now I want to share it with you, so that you can experience a life-changing shift in your beliefs about your own experience, and how it is shaped from within your own mind, not from external events. I'm a highly trained coach and master practitioner of NLP and hypnosis, specialising in Sidney Banks' "Three Principles." I've gone through many personally challenging times in my life, and learnt something new from every experience. I don't believe we're ever done learning, but now I'd like to do some teaching.
