Debbie Levitt, CEO of Ptype UX & Product Design Agency, has been a UX strategist, designer, and trainer since the 1990s. As a “serial contractor” who lived in the Bay Area for most of this decade, Debbie has influenced interfaces at Sony, Wells Fargo, Constant Contact, Macys.com, Oracle, and a variety of Silicon Valley startups. Clients have given her the nickname, “Mary Poppins,” because she flies in, improves everything she can, sings a few songs, and flies away to her next adventure. Debbie is a speaker and trainer who has presented at conferences including eBay’s Developer Conference, PayPal’s Developer Conference, UXPA, and WeAreDevelopers. She is an O’Reilly published author and one of few instructors on the planet recommended by Axure. Her newest training program is DevOps ICU, which teaches non-UX roles how to measurably improve DevOps results by correctly integrating UX practitioners and processes. Outside of UX work, and sometimes during UX work, Debbie enjoys singing symphonic prog goth metal, opera, and New Wave. She’s now a Digital Nomad splitting her time between the USA and rural Italy. * All of my presentations are available in session lengths as well as in interactive workshop lengths. Just ask for what you need! * I write all of my own material and can write or customize a presentation or training just for your company or event. Over the years, I have cultivated many interests, which allows me to see the world through my multi-faceted experience. I am a designer, strategist, and maker working in both architecture and product design. Overall, I am driven by exploring how design can benefit society and the environment. I mix and match my multi-disciplinary skills to better inform my designs, aiming for the best results for both the users and the planet. The front-end of design and strategy are my biggest strength. I shine in needfinding and defining the constraints that drive a well-considered project founded on various human needs and environmental limitations. Moving beyond general professional knowledge, I have worked for over a decade building specialty knowledge in biomimicry and gender. I have won numerous awards for my projects, which include products in healthcare, housewares, and electronics as well as residential and institutional buildings. My success is due to diligent work founding designs on the needs of people and with clear consideration of the environment. I'm a creative social innovator, placemaker and network builder. I believe that people have the power to create great communities. And I'm passionate about helping them do it. I bring more than 15 years of experience helping to catalyze DIY community change. I help people learn to work together to create great places and communities. I also help organizations, towns and social causes engage with their audiences, tell great stories, and have fun while they're doing it. I'm an interdisciplinary thinker and doer, with a diverse background in communications, land use and community planning, philanthropy and research, training and education, biology and environmental science, and community outreach and social change. I'm equally excited about taking big ideas and applying them in practical ways, and finding small local solutions and helping to scale them up. I'm a frequent speaker, trainer and facilitator for conferences and organizations in the fields of placemaking, community engagement, resilience and public participation. My specialty is sharing inspiring stories and tools for do-it-yourself change -- easy, cheap projects that any person can take home and start tomorrow. From pop-up universities to public art, tactical urbanism to random acts of kindness, I love helping groups understand the power of working together and making things happen.

For the past 10 years, I've worked as a muse to artists from all around the world. It has been in these still poses, listening to art instruction, that I began to realize art fundamentals are the perfect philosophy to life. I had to spread this message so I wrote and self-published my first book. When you apply the same principles to your life as you would a canvas, you can create a masterpiece! Currently, I write content and blogs for websites and have been polishing my speaking skills in Toastmasters. I am new to the world of speaking, but am confident I can bring energy and eloquence to any stage.
