Geoff Malone, also known as Ahjan Samvara, established the Awakened Mind Buddhist Meditation Center, located in San Francisco, in 1999. As of 2023, he has retired from teaching meditation and mindfulness to focus on global humanitarian work, sharing the Buddhist wisdom and compassion that he's cultivated throughout his career and personal life. Ajhan Samvara's philanthropic efforts have included organizing and fundraising for Maiti Nepal / Friends of Maiti Nepal (fighting to end the human trafficking of women and children), fundraising for the Mahadeva Malai Temple in India, fundraising for the Arunachala Animal Center in India, helping to set up a memorial fund for the late Acharya Tshewang Khenpo, fundraising for Kiva (crowdfunding small business loans for borrowers who are typically marginalized or excluded from financing and/or who are creating positive social impact in their local communities), and collecting and delivering much needed medical supplies and medication to the non-profit Clinica Esperanza in Roatan, Honduras. As a former spiritual teacher, Ajhan Samvara mainly taught meditation, mindfulness practice, and bodhicitta (compassion) for over twenty years.

Personally, I was called to confront and grapple in adulthood with my childhood sexual abuse, leave a financially dominated marriage and face a horrific, dragged out divorce, AND a rare medical diagnosis resulting in medical trauma followed by donating my kidney during a global pandemic (deep breath!) all while distance schooling my kids as a single mom. That might seem like a lot- but I know I’m not alone. This has offered me a lesson or two about taking care of myself so that I can care for others. I believe it all stems with self compassion, boundaries, acceptance, and being very intentional in creating your own version of a best life! (For me, it is much slower than for many others (and far too fast for some).) I am a life coach & yoga mentor (and psychology student) helping others navigate change and create lives rooted in connection, expansion and thriving. I’d love to share my story with you.
