Bio

I am committed to teaching skills and strategies that transform the minds and lives of teens girls.

I am proud of my accomplishments which include running a thriving private practice serving teen girls and their families, and being sought after as a cultural diversity consultant. What many do not know about me is that by the time I was 13 years old, I was broken and displaced after migrating to the USA. My teenage years were tumultuous, plagued with sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, broken relationships, low self-esteem, and bouts with homelessness.

In spite of these challenges, I have triumphed to become a wife of 29 years, mother of three successful adult children, and a highly respected girls empowerment coach.

The difficult experiences in my early life, along with my education, inform my work. I am especially passionate about working with teens and families who are newcomers to the USA, struggling to navigate the complexities of adapting to a new country and new culture.

Therapy

I help teens to regain their confidence and trust in the adults in their lives. I work with them to instill hope and renewed self-worth. Psychotherapy is offered in a face to face setting as well as through the online telehealth process. As a result of working with me, teens are more productive. They are more accountable. They complete the tasks that they start. They have improved academic performance and they have better attitudes.

Parent Coaching

I offer a twelve-week support group, with curriculum. I work closely with parents to study specific areas of discipline, increase their parenting skills, help navigate these challenges. My approach is strength based and culturally responsive. I help parents assess their current situation, make relationship goal, and develop and execute an action plan to meet those goals. Most importantly, parents realize that they are not alone and they feel supported. In the Immigrant Parent Support Group, parents are informed about different areas of the American culture, particularly; positive discipline, navigating the school system, and staying connected with their children. Both groups have a set curriculum to follow because we respect your time and your commitment to raising your teenager.

Educational Consulting

I typically work in K-12 school settings, but may also be hired by parents to advise children on colleges and private schools. My scope of consulting work also includes inclusion of culturally responsive care in child care and early childhood settings. I work with clients to gain clarity and develop strategies that empower them to reach their goals.

Telehealth

I am trained to offer distance video counseling for individuals who are a good fit living throughout Minnesota only. This video counseling can be used for short term or longer term individual therapy sessions. I use a HIPPA compliant video service, HIPPA compliant emailing, phone and text to take the most steps possible to ensure your privacy. Teen Therapy

Maybe you are a teen who was born in the United States or maybe you were not. Either way, you feel disconnected, like you just don’t fit in and nobody is loyal to you, nobody cares. You feel left alone to navigate this big scary world by yourself. I get it! I was that teenager. I understand! I will work with you to feel better about yourself, start to build connections in your spaces, and to feel hopeful about your life. I will help you discover the genius in you that the world is waiting for. Let me be your guide.
