Digitalization insights

My transition from IT to HR gave me a better understanding of the antagonism that exists between IT professionals and users. Even to recognize the techniques used by IT professionals to manipulate the user, as well as the disadvantages that the user faces.

As I considered this, it came to me that the user's digital leadership should be stronger or wider than the IT professional's view of the same.

IT

I am an MBA-educated IT professional. I'm working on my PhD, which is likewise in the field of IT leadership. I began my career as a programmer and worked my way up to become an IT manager. Throughout my career, I've worked on system design and development, infrastructure management, and IT strategy creation.

I've taken over as the project manager for ERP implementations in Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and China.

BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has granted me a charter (UK). I serve as a judge for the National ICT Awards of Sri Lanka on a yearly basis as a Chartered member. There, we evaluate the quality of IT systems that have been developed.

HR

On the request of a company where I worked, I became an HR professional. They asked me to be in charge of their strategic HR. The first task was to minimize employee absenteeism from 13.5 percent to 6%.

I've led HR teams in the hospitality, manufacturing, and finance industries. My most recent HR project was to fine-tune a bank's HR system in order to support its strategy of expanding from 28 billion dollars to 50 billion dollars.

As a council member of the Institute of Personnel Management of Sri Lanka, I have been involved in national HR. Editor, Chairman of the Technology Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Research and Publication Committee, and Assistant Secretary are among the positions I've held.

I was given the honor of chairing Sri Lanka's National Human Resources Conference, which is South Asia's largest. Through great conception, my committee and I were able to construct the conference. The number of participants increased from 700 to 1200 as a result of the increase. This is the biggest number of people that have ever participated, and the record is still standing.

Conceptualizing

My conceptualization abilities grew as a result of my PhD studies. Learning about knowledge production inspired me to come up with fresh business solutions.

I've been effective in developing new concepts such as paperless business, design thinking framework, and impact assessment of information systems.

General management

They entrusted me with the post of convener of the Operations Improvement Committee (OIC) at one of the manufacturing businesses where I worked . I was the ISO QMS Management Representative.

This project gave me a lot of experience with operations management and general management.

We were fine-tuning organizational structure and processes in order to increase productivity.

Games are good: Introducing gamification to businesses

People can become addicted to computer games. The business world has yet to develop that work addiction. There are certain lessons that business executives can take from gaming. Gamification is the application of techniques for fostering addiction (engagement) in games to people's working lives.

This session will introduce the audience to the concept of gamification and provide tips on how to use it to your business.

Digital transformation of HR

Within the fourth industrial revolution, HR and other roles need change. HR must adopt a SMAC framework, or a framework that enables digital transformation.

In the digital age, HR skills are more important than ever. HR must assist businesses in job re-invention, leadership shifts, changing fashion, and preventing dehumanization of work, codification of people, as well as providing digital transformation leadership to enterprises.

Digital transformation leadership

It's past time for IT users to take charge of digital transformation. IT professionals are no longer in charge of digital transformation. IT models must be re-invested. The new model will be presented in this talk. Even the definition of data should be re-invented. The concepts highlighted will assist user leaders in taking charge of digital transformation.

Do business paperless: to save the plant

You are guilty of hurting the environment if you utilize paper in your company procedures. Because the amount of damage caused by utilizing paper is enormous. In certain cases, it is more detrimental to the environment than plastic. As a result, it is best to eliminate the use of paper in enterprises.

Despite the fact that the business sector has tried and failed to do so, they have overlooked the reality that the techno-legal environment is now ready to work without paper.

The objective of paper will be repositioned in this talk. enlighten you on how to give people the confidence they had when they signed a piece of paper, utilizing readily available resources to create a strategy that helps you eliminate paper.

Connecting art and science for best benefit of the world

Science should make a positive contribution to the world's improvement. People perceive "theories as not practical" even though the truth is otherwise, because the knowledge generation process in the scientific world is far from the contemporary world.

During the diffusion process, a variety of research methodologies are used to absorb innovations (art) made in society into scientific literature. This speech will provide you with an overview of the entire spectrum of research methodologies, as well as how to integrate art and science for the best possible societal benefit.

New model for design thinking

Throughout history, the creative movement has proposed numerous models of creativity. There was, however, no model that guided the "Ideation" part of the creative process. This presentation introduces a Design thinking paradigm that was created to aid the creation process step by step. This model develops a prototype definition a prototype description for a technology-based prototype definition.

The model given in this speech will, in some ways, complement the Stanford Design thinking methodology. I'll persuade the audience that this model "allows everyone to invent."

Customised presentations

You provide the subject, audience, and goal. I'll create a speech that is tailored to your needs.

For your objective, I will conduct research and generate persuasive material and arguments.

  • It’s both my pleasure and honor to acknowledge Aruna for presenting his “HR Automation and future of HR in Digital Era” talk to the HR Professionals and Students during our IPM Member Development Week. Aruna’s candid style and humor won over the packed house of members and students the moment he began speaking. And he received the very good ratings of all of our speakers during the series of programs. The energy and level of engagement in active and productive feedback here at our forum has been taken to another level and I had to make sure to take a moment to say THANK YOU! I truly feel that you have changed the way I lead and communicate both personally and professionally. Aruna has great advice, is a fantastic speaker, and his stories and lessons are relevant to every person in any audience. Thank you once again for making such a big impact and helping to provide new knowledge. I’m looking forward to sharing your innovative way of approaching communication in the workplace and applying it to my work life in the future.

  • Aruna was one of the panelists of a panel discussion in the 'Wings to Fly' workshop at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka for the Business Management Undergraduates. As the moderator I had the liberty in inviting the panelists and main reason behind inviting Aruna for this was because of his broad career exposure to IT and HR. Being a giant in multiple fields is not easy task and we find only handful of professionals in this nature like Aruna. As always his speech was so remarkable because of the real life stories he linked and made it customized to the audience. Another uniqueness I have seen in his speeches is he never make the audience to feel boring or disconnected what so ever the serious the topic is, because similar to the speech his smile is also keeping the audience connected.

  • Through our professional crossroads, I have seen several sides of Aruna. He exhibits exceptional conceptualization skills. I have always been astounded by his interpretations of management issues that we face daily at work. His way of questioning things is unique and insightful. For some time, I have considered him a mentor, and he has even come up with answers and concepts for the problems I'm trying to solve. As a speaker, he is most enlightening and inspiring. He has a distinct manner of presenting every subject given to him. He can approach a problem from the perspectives of general management, information technology, law, operations management, project management, and many more. He is a fantastic thinker and a presenter in my experience.
