The Double Shift: How Storytelling Connects Sports, Gaming, and the Audiences Who Live for Both
Webinar • 30 minutes
Every great hockey game has a narrative arc. So does every great video game. And the content creators who understand that — who know how to find the human story beneath the stats and the strategy — are the ones building the most loyal audiences online today. In this talk, Brian Wilks draws on his experience as a hockey analyst, writer, and gaming commentator to explore what sports and gaming have always had in common: the power of a well-told story to turn a casual observer into a lifelong fan. Brian unpacks how the skills that make a great hockey breakdown translate directly to compelling gaming content, why audiences in both spaces are hungry for voices with genuine perspective, and how creators can stop chasing algorithms and start building real connection through authentic storytelling.
