The Dynamics of Conflict - Part 1: Preventing the Crisis

Every business has its challenges, but interoffice tensions and conflicts come at a cost as they impact morale, turnover, and productivity. Not to mention the drain they create on Leaders, Human Resource departments and company finances.

This program will help you to prevent the crisis by exposing the underlying components of interpersonal conflict and offering techniques for managing tensions and complaints. You’ll learn about the unhealthy assumptions – made by employees and HR alike - that drive the conflict. And we’ll provide replacement assumptions that help reduce tensions and steer your company clear of disaster.

This presentation offers both theory and practical tips, leaving participants feeling informed, invigorated, and ready to make change!

The Dynamics of Conflict - Part 2: The Impact of Leadership

Sometimes workplace conflict is a mystery – and nearly impossible to resolve. Efforts to address the issues may feel like a game of Whack-A-Mole, where new complaints crop up as fast as others seem resolved. If you’ve dealt with these issues, you know how exhausting and frustrating it can be.

In this program, we will examine the true undercurrents beneath these “unsolvable” conflicts. We will explore the interface between conflict, communication, and leadership, while identifying the link between best intentions and resulting outcomes. As we uncover the circumstances and behaviors which seem well-meaning or appear appropriate, we will show why these behaviors lead to increased conflict and complaints, cause unwanted turnover, and give rise to legal action. Finally, we will share best practices for managing these workplace issues before they lead to business disruption or legal action.

The Dynamics of Conflict - Part 3: Managing the Team

Assembling a team of dedicated, competent, and motivated individuals should be enough to bring organizational success, right? Unfortunately, not. Assembling the right talent isn’t enough, because they must also work together. Each member of the team comes with his/her own style of communicating, managing conflict, and working with others. Leaders, with their own unique styles, then must manage these divergent personalities to create a “team” all while not demonstrating preference or favoritism.

This program will look at the factors of communication and conflict management that create problems within any team. We will identify the instincts and reactions that disrupt a healthy workplace. And, we will provide strategies and techniques for building and maintaining healthy – and dynamic - teams.
