Charita McClellan’s career has been primarily centered in the finance/accounting world. It was through her volunteer work within employee resource groups that she found her passion for DEI. In the past Charita has served as the Professional Development Chair for the Black Professionals Group as well as the Community Engagement Chair and Richardson and Dallas site leads for North Texas LGBT+ Pride. Additionally, Charita had the privilege of presenting a product, “Bi, POC and Womxn – 3 Strikes” at the 2020 Out and Equal Workplace Summit. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of North Texas, a Masters of Business Administration from New York Institute of Technology and a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University.
When Charita thinks of PRIDE she thinks of her happy place. PRIDE is where everyone has the opportunity to be their true authentic selves without judgment or shame. For Charita PRIDE allows the opportunity to be seen and provides validity. Charita is a feminine presenting cis gendered female and therefore her sexuality tends to be assumed. When she is with a male partner people assume she is straight and when she is with a female partner people assume that she is a lesbian. Very seldom does anyone consider bisexuality as an option. Charita hopes to continue to challenge what individuals and society envisions when they think of LGBTQ+ members and assist in the elimination of Bierasure.
