Storysailing® is a simple and elegant thought model I use to teach business transformation through storytelling to leaders, teams, organizations, and entrepreneurs through my books, keynotes, workshops, and coaching.

I’m a business communications expert and professional speaker, an award-winning writer and designer, a "tough love" editor, a capable coder, and a pretty good jazz guitarist. Why stories? When I was 18, I was inspired by a scruffy sailor who told me amazing stories about faraway places and storms at sea. I wanted stories of my own.

While still in college, I bought a small sailboat and began to fix her up. Eventually, I set sail with $30 in my pocket and a locker full of food and dreams. My adventures carried me thousands of miles—through the Bahamas, across the Atlantic Ocean to Gibraltar, and up the east coast of the United States. Years later, I returned to the land of clocks and calendars with what I’d been seeking—stories.

My wanderings gave me an unexpected gift. I had learned the secrets to what makes stories powerful, meaningful, and influential. I place my stories in the service of professionals who use them to build cohesive teams, close sales, communicate authentically, enrich corporate culture, foster deeper relationships with customers, and pursue meaningful professional lives.
